We aim to accommodate everyone as an equal; whilst we appreciate some people require more from us. If you have a genuine fear of going to the hairdressers then please inform a member of the team when booking your appointment. This will enable us to spend longer with you to allow us the time to reassure you of any ideas you may want to go through. If you do prefer you can come in to the salon to have a consultation first, this way you can control how long you stay and get used to how we like to work.
Elderly
One of our eldest clients is 104 and thoroughly enjoys coming in whenever she can. Some clients prefer to have their hair washed forwards instead of back, again please mention it to your stylist to ensure you are comfortable throughout. Gents over 60 are recommended to seek medical advice from a doctor before having a cut throat shave, due to the intensity of the service however an express shave is suitable to all.
Disabled
Clients whom attend with carer’s or need to accommodate a wheel chair will be made welcome and every need attended to. Hair can be sprayed down without washing if necessary.
Deaf and Blind
We have clients whom fall in to both categories here and is something we feel we handle with great care, putting ourselves in the place of the client we rely on our senses when describing how the clients hair looks and feels before and after their service.
Foreign Clientele
Time is always taken to ensure we have no communication obstacles, the use of visual aids are used more to ensure there are minimal barriers. As we have a high Muslim clientele we are also sensitive to their beliefs and take care to provide a screen in respect for their faith, however the salon is a unisex salon and cannot guarantee male clients presence will be in attendance when you visit. But we will always try to accommodate with prior notice not too book male clients in at the same time.
Child Zone
At Thistles the majority of us are parents of young children therefore appreciate how difficult small tasks, we can provide soft drinks, small snacks, changing mat, facilities to warm up baby food and bottles. The children can draw, colour, read books or play with the toys while you relax. Over the years we have watched our small children grow up from visit to visit, they are free to walk the salon with independence, however ensure their safety comes first. Whilst respecting other clients whom enjoy their relaxation time too. Please feel free to bring your child along without feeling the intimidation we have all encountered in other places.
“Fiona has cut my sons hair since he was 2 and now cuts my daughters. He loves going to Thistles and won't let anyone else touch his hair, now 7 years old he does his own hair freely and always watches how the girls put his wax on. Fiona and her team create a warm friendly atmosphere that my children feel comfortable with. he has even made friends while he’s been there. Thanks girls for your patience."
